Continued rollout of EV charge points through ChargePlace Scotland

We have continued to expand our network of EV charge points since this proposal. The ChargePlace network now comprises over 1,200 charging points, including 150 'rapid' chargers, one of the most comprehensive networks of rapid charge points in Europe.

ChargePlace Scotland is the national network of electric vehicle charge points available across Scotland.

The ChargePlace Scotland network has been developed by the Scottish Government through grant funding of Local Authorities and other organisations to install publicly available charge points. Recipients of the funding are known as 'Hosts'. A Host is the designated owner of the charge points they have installed and are also responsible for maintenance and general upkeep of their charge points. The ChargePlace Scotland network is operated on behalf of the Scottish Government by Charge Your Car Ltd.

The Developing Car Clubs in Scotland (DCCS) programme was launched in October 2010 and is funded by Transport Scotland, the national transport agency for Scotland. The programme represents an innovative part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions from transport and improving air quality in towns and cities.

There are car clubs in 25 locations in 16 Local Authority areas. There are approximately 10,000 members across Scotland, with access to 342 vehicles. 23% of the Scottish Car Club fleet is electric.
